SmartRock-Based Research on Gyratory Locking Point for Stone Mastic Asphalt Mixture

نویسندگان

چکیده

For gyratory compaction, the concept of locking point was initially developed to identify compactability asphalt mixes and alleviate potential aggregate crushing in mold. Most previous studies on were based specimens’ height change. Recent have indicated that cold mix mixtures could be determined by rotation angle range indicator using SmartRock. However, or change ultimately reflects a volume. Additionally, there is no clear physical mechanical connection between volume point. In this paper, stone mastic mixture (SMA 13) selected for compaction applying various temperatures. The data recorded SmartRock embedded different positions. Collected included stress, angle, acceleration. major findings are as follows: (1) specimen’s representative stress value when center, results close traditional evaluation (LP3 LP2-2-3); (2) reached plateau earlier than value; (3) acceleration not suitable characterizing interlocking process during compaction.

Stone Mastic Asphalt Pavement Technology for the New Millennium

Since the 1960s, Stone Mastic Asphalt (SMA) pavement surfaces have been used successfully in Germany on heavily trafficked roads. Because of its excellent performance characteristics, road authorities in Germany as well as major European Countries quickly adopted SMA as a standard wearing course. As a consequence of an asphalt study tour in Europe of an American delegation in 1990, SMA test sec...

Stone mastic asphalt: assessing the effect of cellulose fibre additives

& Currently, in the UK, there is considerable interest in the fact that a German bituminous surfacing mixture known as stone mastic asphalt may possess levels of in-service performance that resist the growing incidence of premature failure experienced by traditional materials such as hot rolled asphalt. A high stone content grading requires the use of a stabilizing additive to ensure long-term ...

Effect of Fibers on Mixture Design of Stone Matrix Asphalt

Lignin fibers typically influence the mixture performance of stone matrix asphalt (SMA), such as strength, stability, durability, noise level, rutting resistance, fatigue life, and water sensitivity. However, limited studies were conducted to analyze the influence of fibers on the percent voids in mineral aggregate in bituminous mixture (VMA) during the mixture design. This study analyzed the e...

Estimation the Fatigue Number of Stone Mastic Asphalt Mixtures Modified with Nano SiO2 and Nano TiO2

Asphalt modification/reinforcement has received considerable attention as viable solutions to enhance flexible pavement performance. This is mainly prompted by the unsatisfactory performance of traditional road materials exposed to dramatic increases and changes in traffic patterns. This paper presents the evaluation of fatigue behaviour of nano reinforced Stone Mastic Asphalt mixtures. Fatigue...

Research on Design Technology of TLA Modified Asphalt Mixture

Marshall Test design methods are used to design TLA modified asphalt mixture and base asphalt mixture respectively, and their pavement performance is tested. The results showed that there is a transforming coefficient of 1.15 between OAC of 40% TLA modified asphalt mixture and that of base asphalt mixture, and ultimate gradation of the TLA modified asphalt mixture is finer than previous gradati...
